T3 Week 8 - Chicks, Similes, Moon Festival
This week, we were lucky enough to have children's book author, Alan Trussell-Cullen in for mystery reader (otherwise known as Katie's poppa!). What a treat!
In Mandarin, we celebrated the Moon Festival. Traditionally the Moon Festival marks the end of the summer harvest. We made playdough moon cakes and tested our chopstick skills.

T3 Week 7 - Chicks, Cross Country, Building Bridges
This week has been jam-packed full of fun! On Monday, 11 eggs were delivered to school so we went for a sneaky visit to watch them sit in the incubator. Over the next few days we were lucky enough to see them hatch. It was incredible to see how fast they were up and about. This led to us doing some great research on chickens using our knowledge of keywords.
On Thursday, the weather was kind to us and we managed to completely avoid the rain during our fun run. Everyone did such a fantastic job at running, it was great to see so many smiles right up until the finish line. Well done Room 10!

T2 Week 9 - Matariki
Happy Matariki! Matariki (Maori New Year) was celebrated from 25-28th June this year.
It marks the start of the Maori year. Over the past few weeks we have been learning about this celebration through stories. During Matariki, a small cluster of 7 stars appears in the sky. There are many stories to explain this star cluster such as the seven kites, the seven sisters, and the seven fish.
